Jubilee cometh…

Well, the last gig of a hectic Beckett spring is rapidly approaching. Less than a fortnight since the last gig, The Beckett return to the headline slot at the Halfmoon in Putney for the second time in four months to begin their Jubilee celebrations.

Since January we've written, recorded, pressed and circulated the new CD, played four gigs, had great press exposure, met managers and producers with backgrounds you wouldn't believe (as well as some we still don't), been picked up for use on even more websites, have some possible TV and tour support gigs in the pipeline and are trying to write a new set of songs to take us forward. It's only when we sat back and thought about how much had happened that we realised how seriously busy we have been. So after this Thursday's gig, we'll be taking a little time to catch our collective breath, take a step back, reshuffle and look forward at the rest of this year and what we want to achieve.

NEXT GIG

PUTNEY
: The Halfmoon, Putney : Thu May 30 2002

After rocking their venue in March, those nice people at the Halfmoon asked us back again and we just didn't have the heart to turn them down. Up until now, the Halfmoon Putney was famous for hosting The Rolling Stones, The Who, U2, Van Morrison and Elvis Costello, as well as more recently My Vitriol, Symposium, Squeeze and Marti Pellow. This Thursday, The Beckett return to the headline slot with two support bands building a strong name for themselves - Appletrash & Mantequilla and if the last gig was anything to go by, it should be a great night so come down early and give some support to the two guest bands.

For details and directions visit www.halfmoon.co.uk or call them on 020 8780 9383. As always, further details and maps to the venues can be found on the  website at www.thebeckett.co.uk/gigs.

Doors Open: 8.30pm, £4 entry (mention The Beckett or bring a flyer)

LAST  GIG
: Lil Backyard Club at The Phoenix : Fri May 17 2002

The Beckett played their first Friday Night, West End gig at the new home of The Lil Backyard Club at The Phoenix. Thanks to all who made it - you heard LTF Intro, NovaCold, I'm in a Hole (first public play), On and On, You and Cowboy. Best of luck to Three Bean Salad who have just signed a management deal with Backyard Promotions.

FOR YOUR DIARIES

um.....

The next few months will see us working on the new material, booking the next set of gigs and continuing our conversations with management and record labels until we find the right deal. Keep on eye on the website for a redesign and in your inboxes for the next newsletter which should be with you soon. As always we look forward to seeing you on Thursday - if you can't make it, one way of keeping up with your regular Beckett fix is to get yourself a copy of the latest CD - details below.
